Sharrock is a force of nature. His playing is always interesting, exciting, spontaneous and very visceral. Players in most genres, especially metal, could stand to learn a thing or two from him. JAH

Definitely different from his more recent collaboratively ethereal and leisurely LP's, this is a crepitating, sparsely textured album that sounds like a peregrine mixture of Whitehouse eeriness, Diamanda Galas, and the first Sonic Youth LP if it was played by Jandek. A fascinating LP that is best played at very loud volumes lying on the sofa after a few Fernet Branca's. brantly
Dreamy, dubbed-out U.K. psych-rock that mixes aesthetics from across the decades for something strikingly contemporary. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 17, 2019
There’s a mighty cinematic sweep in the songs on the latest from Badlands, the big and imposing orchestration with dreamlike vocals. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 27, 2022

The funk/jazz/metal album of Japanese sea shantys you didn't know you needed! Akira Sakata is a revelation here, but the man who drew me to this set is the guitarist Pete Cosey, a brilliant player who few people seem to know about. Listen to the man take the guitar into dark, distorted, and funky territory as he backs Sakata on this incredible jams. Well worth your time. browncoatradio
